Contracting authorities may submit statistical data for public contracts below the European thresholds

27 January 2021 1 min read

By 15 March 2021 at the latest, contracting authorities must communicate to the FPS Chancellery of the Prime Minister (Public Procurement Service) the total value of all public contracts below the thresholds set for European publicity (broken down into works, supplies and services contracts) that they awarded in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

In a notice published in the Belgian Official Gazette of 19 January 2021, the Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo, gives further details on the content of the notification and the procedures for submission.

The transmission of the information is mandatory on the basis of Article 165 of the Act of 17 June 2016 on public procurement. The data will be compiled in a statistical report intended for the European Commission — an important tool for monitoring the award practices of contracting authorities.
